Andrea Mayer President of Smart Move Property Management

Andrea is the President of Smart Move Property Management and has been a proud member of the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM) since 2008. She holds both the Residential Management Professional (RMP®) and Master Property Manager (MPM®) designations through NARPM, which reflect her commitment to professional development and to the standards this industry should hold. She is also EPA Lead-Safe certified, which applies to renovation and repair work in homes built before 1978.
Her involvement with NARPM goes well beyond membership. Andrea served as President of the Southwest Idaho Chapter in 2020, has spent more than 10 years on the chapter's Board of Directors in a range of leadership roles, and has served on national NARPM committees.
Andrea is a problem solver and a systems builder. She cares about smart processes, high standards, protecting investments, and giving owners and residents a great experience. Good property management takes strong systems, thoughtful decisions, clear communication, and a commitment to doing things the right way. Collecting rent and answering maintenance calls are the starting point. Her leadership shapes the hands-on, service-focused approach the team brings to every property they manage.
Andrea also brings an owner's perspective, because she is an investor herself. She owns seven properties, five of them run as rentals, in Idaho and out of state. She has lived the responsibilities, decisions, expenses, and rewards that come with owning rental property, so she knows what owning one actually asks of you. Every investment has a bottom line, and she is focused on helping other owners protect and improve theirs.
When she is not working on ways to improve the business, Andrea is probably planning her next beach vacation, looking for her next travel adventure, or brainstorming her Halloween costume, one of her favorite creative projects of the year.

How Andrea Built Smart Move
Andrea started Smart Move in 2005 with a single rental house, the home she and her husband had just moved out of. Before that she spent eight years working in collections, then took a job inside a property management company that was struggling. Processes were inconsistent and most days were spent reacting to problems. She was promoted to build the systems the company needed, and that job showed her what this work takes when it is done well.
The next ten properties came from friends who trusted her and gave her a chance. Two decades later, Smart Move still manages one of those original homes, along with roughly 225 others across the Treasure Valley.
Andrea owns rentals herself, including a few out of state, so she has seen how much the experience varies from one management company to the next. That set the standard she holds the team to: be the company we would want to hire for our own investments.
